Booker is one of the largest food distribution companies in Europe. They have many thousands of customers with different types of EPOS (Electronic Point of Sales) systems.

The system deals with several thousand transactions each week both instigating and receiving calls. The range of systems interconnected is vast; price lists come from an IBM Mainframe, orders go to Unix boxes, customers have terminals ranging from a handheld Z80 with 8K of RAM, through PCs to Unix boxes.

Allowing buyers to search for the hard to find/ obsolete components in a database of many hundreds of thousands of parts, request online price and delivery information. The database structure automatically compiles and populates stock details from multiple surplus stock lists from all around the world. This data is updated electronically each day, downloaded and processed to in-house and web formats. This gives customers unique access to one of the biggest fastest most up-to-date resources for component location. Enquiries are automatically allocated to likely suppliers giving a swift stock position sending requested details quickly by fax or email.

Farr Insurance PLC
Receiving information from customers in a hard copy format was a cause of frustration at Farr. Cross platform sharing of data was the answer. Using internet technology we built a secure bridge, allowing remote users to directly access the Farr computer system from any internet capable computer. This not only allowed direct entry of claim details but in many cases instant on-line authorisation and real time monitoring of the claims progress.
